Root Beer Floats

Over the weekend, Husband & I went to a country music festival. There was a booth that was selling root beer floats. I said to B that a float sounded good and I hadn't had one in I don't know how many years. Then B nearly stopped me in my tracks when he replied that he had never had one. What?! I don't think you've graduated from childhood without having a root beer float! LOL Now I really shouldn't be all that surprised because Brian lived a very sheltered food life before we started dating. The man didn't even have clam chowder till he was 21 and visiting me in Oregon. Meanwhile, I've been eating escargot and fresh caught yellow fin tuna raw since I was a kid. I will eat anything at least once.

So tonight I made root beer floats for B & I. It looks funny in the picture above because we tinted our vanilla ice cream orange for a nice cheery spring color. We make all our ice cream at home. I was slightly worried that the ice cream would not hold up as well in the float. Our homemade ice cream is a lot softer than the store bought kind.

And the verdict?
He thought it was terrible!!
I had mine and a couple bites/slips of his before dumping the rest. What a waste! However, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I don't really drink that much soda anymore. Now when I crave carbonation I drink La Croix sparkling water. Coconut is my favorite. I bought the mini root beers so now I've got a little treat to get me through the heat of summer or the heat of next week. Ugh, Florida why can you not stay in the 60's and low 70's like today. I am dreading summer already. Is it obvious?

Happy {almost} Hump Day!
