If you follow along with my blog, you have probably realized that I'm big on personalization. I don't like generic things, especially when it came to our wedding day.
I didn't want printed table numbers from Michael's wedding section. I wanted everyone who walked into our wedding to know that we took the time to decorate for our big day. I should also point out that most of my wedding decorations are reusable and can be repurposed after the wedding. Wedding are expensive and I really didn't want to through money away just to create something pretty.
For our table numbers, I bought 9 {5 x 7} unfinished wood frames with plexi glass, foam backing and clips already installed from an Etsy shop you can find here. For the paint, I went no further than our closet because I used the color we painted the entertainment center that Brian built from scratch. I love that the color that became central to our wedding was a color we've been looking at/using in our house for years. I painted the table numbers, card box, letters, signs, etc with Behr Premium Plus Ultra Semi-Gloss in Ionic Sky. When we buy a house, I will probably coat most of the interior in this color. It's the prettiest shade of {what I consider} aqua blue. There are so many shades of blue. I believe that if you asked 10 people to pick out something aqua blue, you'd have 10 different shades.
I bought wooden numbers from Michael's. For the background of the frames I used scrapbook paper in a few different patterns also from Michael's. I suggest sticking to odd numbers so either pick one pattern you really like or what I chose to do was use three. I chose a stripe, damask & polka dot. Unless you have A LOT of tables I wouldn't do more than three.
To recap:
*Any size unfinished wooden frames
*Wooden numbers
*Scrapbook Paper
*Wood glue
Brian & I worked as a team with me painting the frames & Brian using a paper cutter to cut the paper down to the 5 x 7 size. Brian used wood glue to adhere the numbers to the scrapbook paper which was held in like a normal picture frame.
Now that the wedding is over, we took out all the numbers and have 9 {5 x 7} pretty painted picture frames to display all our new photos. I am really happy with how they turned out. It was great getting to work on this project with Brian.
Here are photos of the process...
{I used the stripes both ways to get the most out of the scrapbook paper}
The colors tied in nicely with our wedding invitations. The table numbers were a great way to sprinkle our wedding colors around the room.
