Husband's Birthday was a success! He had a great day packed full of friends and family and lots of yummy food. What could be better?!
I woke him up to "Happy Birthday to you..{beeping sound in the background}..the waffle makers beeping so I have to go...happy birthday, get out of bed..." It was pretty funny. Nothing better than waking up to Cinnamon Roll Waffles. Of course, I tried to be creative with the presentation. Not too shabby. Oh, and don't you love his birthday flowers and balloon. I totally did not just use it as an excuse to buy flowers...every man needs flowers on his birthday...birthday flowers that matched the Easter decor. Random coincidence.
Husband had 3 presents to unwrap from me and chose to open one in the morning, one in the afternoon and the last one that night. Check out my amazing wrap job here, I'm pretty proud. He also found out at 2 am on his birthday as we were partying hard taking the dogs out that I was also getting his a new pair of sandals. So first up, the wooden sign above. I love those wooden signs. This one was perfect and is a nod to how B proposed to me {almost 2 years ago-wow!}. I've got to write that story down so I don't forget the small details.
I was so excited to see everyone for B's birthday celebration with friends that we didn't get a single picture. I'm so disappointed. We went to our favorite restaurant, Food Shack and B got an Indoroni {adult mac & cheese with rare ahi tuna on top}. This dish is amazing. For crying out loud, we had FS cater our rehearsal dinner and the Indoroni was even referenced in our vows. We mean business when it comes to food.
We came home and B opened another gift...a new refillable keurig k-cup. Pretty exciting stuff. I feel like I should put a disclaimer that B did not want me to spend any money on him which was just not going to happen. So for the most part he got practical things {because a "Love You More" sign is oh so practical, just couldn't resist.} His last gift included Tervis Tumbler lids and aftershave cream. LOL Wild 28 I tell ya! I gave all the good ideas to others which of course nobody followed through with {not that he didn't get nice gift cards or cash} so next year, I'm keeping all the ideas to myself and hopefully we'll have more money so I can buy him the few nice things he ever asks for. Unlike me, who could win a bazillion dollar lottery and spend it way faster than you would ever think could be possible. Here's hoping. I guess the first step would be actually buy a ticket. {How did I get on this train of thought again?}
Later we headed to B's Mom's for a family dinner. It is always so nice getting together with family. I grew up most of my life {17 years} as an only child. My {step}brother & {half}sister live in Oregon and I'm still my Mom's only child so I grew up usually being the only kid at family events {I don't have cousins on my Dad's side and my Mom's a Jehovah's Witness so I never saw her side for holidays since I was always with my Dad's side-this is a whole other post though! LOL}
And if I haven't confused you enough, my former stepmom joined us which was really great. {And my family tree really deserves its own post!} Two of B's three brothers were there. My sister-in-law and my brother-in-law's girlfriend and her mother joined in the fun as well. Round that off with my MIL and B's Grandmother - we had a full house!
We made homemade cannolis that turned out SO good!
B's Mom made a delish chocolate cake with homemade cream cheese frosting and we sang our hearts out to this special man!
I love you, Husband! I hope your birthday wish comes true, you certainly deserve it!
