Happy Monday!
{eh, sorta. Monday always comes way too quick, am I right?}
I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog!
I hope you had a nice relaxing weekend.
Today, I thought I'd share about my love of the Greenmarket. I go most Saturdays to one in my area. It's become my own Saturday tradition. Sometimes I go with my Mom or a friend, even Bri a time or two. He does not share my love of greenmarkets. LOL Even with things like Red Velvet Doughnuts made fresh. Yum.
This past Saturday was a H-O-T one. "Winter" has definitely left South Florida for good. It's already feeling like summer and I dislike this very much. You'd think being born and raised in Florida would make you used to the heat and humidity but I swear, the older I get the more I dislike it.
The greenmarket is right by the water which makes for a beautiful location. You cannot see it well in this picture but in the first photo I'm wearing a starfish bobby pin. I made that. I used to have a little side business when I was in grad school. It was called Life's Beachy and I made and painted all sorts of sea inspired accessories. Maybe one day I would take it up again but I just don't have the time to commit to that along with everything else going on.
Lately, I've been treating myself to an Cafe con Leche and guava pastry. If you have never tried a guava pastry, I highly recommend it. I don't really know how to describe it other than it is sweet and delicious.
Look at the size of those locally grow zucchini!! I wish I had taken a picture of the name of this vendor. I got a huge carrot, celery and 3 ears of corn for about $3.50. The corn alone was only a dollar for 3 large ears. And again, it's local.
If you read my blog then you would know that I have started to collect succulents. How beautiful is this plant? I cannot wait to add it to my collection although I am running out of space on my window sill. B suggests I stop until we buy a house. But look how pretty that is! :)
I have also had my eyes on all these veggies and herbs. One day! Hopefully sooner rather than later. I cannot wait to start a garden. I really never thought I'd be saying that either.
This weekend I got romaine, arugula, green beans and watermelon radishes {see below} from Stephen's Produce. I was so excited when I saw the watermelon radishes because I had only seen pictures of them and I knew that while they look white and plain on the outside, they are SO PRETTY inside. It's like art.
Husband and I had a nice weekend. It was actually pretty fun now that I look back at it. I consider it a nice weekend when we can relax. We are both so busy during the week. This past weekend was a good mix of getting out of the house and sitting on the couch relaxing. The best kind of weekends in my opinion.
Friday night we saw the new Tom Cruise movie, Oblivion. It was really good, a little confusing but worth your time. After the greenmarket Saturday, B & I met up with our Moms for a lunch date. We sat and talked for three whole hours. We got to show them our wedding video, well the "highlights" because we got that Friday night.
I made homemade laundry detergent. I will be sharing the recipe I used and how I think it's working soon. I've got to do some laundry first :)
Sunday morning we made Cinnamon Roll Waffles. These are the quickest and easiest things to make. We try to do Waffle Sundays as often as we can. It's fun to create traditions with my Husband. I'd love to hear the traditions of others. Feel free to share here on the blog or on Facebook. As much as I love blogging about my life. I love to read about others lives too. I get so much inspiration from others.
What'd you do this weekend? Any greenmarket enthusiasts?
Is it Friday yet? LOL
xo
