Food Truck: April

Happy weekend friends!
We are having a relaxing Saturday especially after an eventful night last night.
Husband and I ate our way through Friday night...
The second Friday of the month there is a food truck event in our area. I think this was the 4th one. It's a foodies paradise!
Two of the trucks we ate at...
I forgot to get a picture of the Chicken-N-Waffles we got from Palate Party. It was very good but totally impractical for this setting. They used a chicken wing. I don't know why you would do bone-in chicken when you are standing and eating something. It should have been a chicken breast/chicken tender.
Our grilled cheese is from Ms. Cheezious. We got the "Goat Cheese & Prosciutto" which also had arugula and tomato on marble rye. It was perfectly crispy on the outside. It was delicious. B and I's verdict is that we would get it again. And we would try other sandwiches. The special last night was "Provolone & Pesto". Another yummy sounding sandwich was "Blue Cheese & Bacon."
I have been waiting since February to try one of these sandwiches. We found this truck after we had stuffed ourselves so I waited...a whole month. The March event came, B wasn't feeling good so I ended up meeting one of my friends there but it was already 9:30 and then event ended at 10. By the time I found Ms. Cheesious they were closed. Just.my.luck. So...I waited ANOTHER month till last night. There was so much anticipation leading up to this so I'm glad we liked our grilled cheese as much as we did.
My wonderful husband, waiting far too long for our mediocre empanadas. The truck was called Empanada Truck {original, right?} They didn't seem freshly made but yet it took way too long if they were just reheating them. We got "BBQ Chicken" and "Prosciutto & Cheese." BBQ was okay but the other one left much to be desired. Almost half of that one was not even filled. I'm really not sure what the deal was. We would not go back. However, my ESM {ExStepMom lol} and her friend got an empanada from Los Chamos that was super fresh and very tasty. We only had a bite but they had several options that sounded good. Even ones with sweet plantains! I love me some sweet plantains.
For dessert we got a gelato bar from HipPOPs. We chose Vanilla Bean dipped in white chocolate and covered in Oreo.  It was good however we did not think that the Vanilla Bean flavor was very strong. However, anything covered in white chocolate and Oreo is tasty!
Husband demonstrating the proper way to eat a pop...he is such a good sport, putting up with all my pictures. He is so thoughtful, always asks if I want to take a picture of food before eating it. I know my quirks can get tiring yet he always puts up with them. I appreciate it more than he knows.
 Oh yeah, it also down poured a good part of the time we were there. Not a light sprinkle but rather bolts of lightning sending people running for cover. Only a true foodie would go out in that weather and stand in the rain to order food. At first, we tried to stay somewhat dry but by the end of the night we were soaked but our tummies were happy. LOL
My ESM and her friend also got an excellent duck sandwich however, I don't know the name of the place. I am going to try to figure it out and I will get back to you. They also raved about Chicken and Waffles from Curbside Gourmet. I plan on trying that next time. It worked out nicely because we were able to compare two empanada trucks and two chicken & waffle dishes. However, B & I got the short end of the stick because both times the verdict was that theirs was better!

You can check out our February food truck experience here.

It's hard because I like to try new things but when you know something is good - how do you not get it again?

Here's my list for next time:
Curbside Gourmet {for Chicken & Waffles}
Top Fries {Not your average fries toppings}
The Chamos {sweet plantain empanada}
Place where we tried the duck sandwich!
Ms. Cheezious
BITE Gastrotruck

We might have won't have room for all this next time but a foodie can dream!

Anybody else ever been to a food truck event?
I am already looking forward to the next one.
We actually had a ton of fun, rain and all. It might even be my favorite one so far...
We had great company and great food.
