Happy Saturday Y'all!
As I am trying to document our life, it is important to me to remember the special days, big and small. May is a special month in the Kozell household. As I shared last week, May 21st marked 8 years since me and the hubs started dating. I still cannot wrap my mind around it. I can easily think back to the amazing moments over the last 8 years. And the trying times too when we struggled with what life was throwing at us. Yet, it feels like there was never a time that Brian wasn't in my life. He is a part of my being, ya know, in like a healthy, "we are individuals in this relationship but he is like my right arm" kind of way!
This May is also 5 years since we moved into our rental townhouse. While I am not exactly happy about celebrating another year that we have not found a house we love, it is still pretty cool that we have made this place our home over the years. We brought Lola home here. We left for our cruise as boyfriend and girlfriend and came home engaged. We graduated college in this townhouse. We've done a lot here. Frankly, if I knew we were going to be here this long, I would have painted more! LOL We have a 20 ft tall ceiling in our living room with ugly, cookie cutter, construction white walls. {Can you feel how I despise them?} I recently saw some photos where the walls were painted 10-12 ft up the wall and the rest is left white. Totally would have done that if I knew we were going to be here this long. Now it seems like a waste since hopefully this year or next we'll be in our very own house. With a baby. Or at least knock up. There, I said it. ;)
Ironically, May 21st is not only significant for our dating anniversary but it also happens to be my work-iversary! I have been with the same company for 2 years now. In my field and my company, this is a big deal as the turnover rate is huge. Being a community mental health therapist is far from easy but I feel very accomplished having stuck with it for 2 years. This is not what I signed up for when I started my master's. I wanted to be a couples therapist in an office. I mean, I got my degree in Marriage {Couples} and Family Therapy. My goal is to work in a private practice, my own or with others with couples or individuals. Mainly adults but I would work with teens as well. Teens are challenging but so interesting too.
One day, I hope.
As you can tell, I have a thing for keeping track of dates. I know the first time Brian said I love you was May 27, 2006. I moved to Oregon on June 5th and moved home on December 9, 2006. Of course, these dates are important and memorable to me. But even more random, I remember other people's special dates. My best friend got engaged on September 18th {You're welcome, Dawn LOL}. Well, today marks 11 years since I graduated high school. I don't know why I stored that to memory but I have. Feeling old!
See ya next year, May! Hello, June!
{{Fun Fact}}
June 1st is 1.5 years since we got married and June 11th is 3 years since we got engaged. Like I said, I keep track of everything!

{I really need to take some pictures of our townhouse...this is what I could find. From December 2009. LOL See our living room is open up to the loft.}
