How far along: 31 weeks 1.21.15
Gender: Boy!
Baby size: He is as long as a pineapple and weighs as much as a coconut. And now I want a piña colada! Virgin for the next 9 weeks...nine.weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: It has been fluctuating but Wednesday morning I weighed myself on our home scale and I was up 19 lbs and I confirmed where the doctor's office has me which is also 19 lbs so that's good to know my tracking is on point. Although my scale has me weighing 4-5 lbs less than the doctor's office scale so I prefer our scale ;)
Maternity clothes: All.day.every.day.
Stretch marks: So far, so good. I have to say, my stomach has never been so soft and moisturized.
Sleep: Maybe I am getting used to it because it has been pretty good. I wake up once a night to use the bathroom and I am trying to mostly sleep on my left side since I seem to snore when I sleep on my right side. You're welcome, Hubby! I had a weird dream last night that our entire back yard was a pond and these 3 boys were swimming in it and wouldn't get out. So random. One day over the last week I did have crazy insomnia where I woke up at 3:30am to pee and did not get back to sleep until 6-6:30am. I was able to sleep in until 8:30 so that was nice because it was a work day. I was also super productive on Pinterest so at least the time wasn't wasted - Ha!
Best moment this week: 1.) Baby K's appointment yesterday 1.21.15! We love hearing our boy's heartbeat and hearing that we are healthy and on track. My belly measurement {from top to bottom is 30 centimeters which is basically right on track. They say that whatever week you are, add 2 and subtract 2 and that's the range you should be measuring in. So at 31 weeks, I would be measuring between 29 and 33 centimeters. I actually asked my doctor because I have had so many people {family, friend and strangers} tell me how small I look and no one can believe I'm just over 7 ½ months pregnant so I started wondering if I am measuring small but I am right on track according to my doctor. I am grateful that I have not turned into the giant whale I anticipated I would whenever I became pregnant. Although, there are still 9 weeks left ;) 2.) My father-in-law painted the nursery this past weekend which we are loving! We are very happy we decided to change the color. While I loved the gray, the blue is more fitting for our vision of Baby K's nursery. 3.) Hubby has started the baseboards. Looking awesome thus far. Baby K has one talented daddy! 4.) We officially have a last name! LOL Oh, and a middle name. Yay! So now we just need to pick a first name.
I shared a sneak peek on my Instagram of Baby K's nursery. The blue is brighter in person and for some reason the lighting was doing something strange because that is not my finger over part of the lens. I am so excited to get started with prepping his room after the baby shower!
Movement: Lots of different movements which I love. I really will miss feeling him in my belly because it is one of the coolest parts of pregnancy.
Food cravings: Grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, cheese. I have been fighting the urge to buy Pop Tarts for months but I just can't let myself buy them because I think of all the preservatives and junk in them. As Bri reminds me, I have to have organic milk, meat, fruits and veggies so how can I possibly want to eat Pop Tarts. Although, somehow I am okay with Sour Patch Kids. ;)
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out: Still in! It seems like it was weeks and weeks ago that the baby apps said it was likely to pop. It definitely continues to get shallower but it seems to fluctuate.
Wedding rings on or off: On with bouts of a swollen ring finger.
Mood: I feel like a broken record but it's been mostly great. Of course, I have my moments but overall I am happy and excited for all the future is bringing. I have a lot to be happy about and I am truly appreciating it because while 2014 was mostly a great year, 2013 was a beast. We took a lot of hits in a variety of ways in 2013 so it has been kind of surreal just how great 2014 was with getting a clean bill of health, becoming pregnant at the same time that we were buying our first house and a job promotion just to name a few. I am hopeful that 2015 will continue the tread and be even better than 2014. I also have moments of anxiety when I think of all we have to do to prepare ourselves and our house for baby boy's arrival. I imagine my anxiety level is going to continue to increase over the coming weeks. There are only NINE Saturdays to work on the house between now and my due date. Eek!
Looking forward to: my baby shower which is a week and a half away! I found the perfect dress last weekend. I am so so so excited to wear it. It's so me. Just wait till you see it! :)
Random: My brother-in-law, Bobby has been so helpful in getting things done at the house. He's offered to be at our house every weekend till Baby K comes to help us get out long list of to-do's crossed off. Meanwhile, he's already been at our house most weekends since we closed on the house in late August. He is so very much appreciated because I know Bri likes the help but it's also motivation to keep busy and working on the house most weekends.
Symptoms: I added another section for myself so that I can remember for next time. So in case you've been wondering. Yes, I do have symptom of pregnancy that are not all rainbows and butterflies. I've been having nasal congestion, more pee breaks during the day but still only waking up once a night, sprinkle in some insomnia, getting out of bed is hard every.single.morning and during my middle of the night bathroom break, occasional but increasing lower back pain & some knots in my upper back. I notice I get more achy after working around the house on the weekend when I am on my feet for a long time. I've also gone up two cup sizes and a band size as I recently got measured when investing in some nursing bras. That was a whole experience in itself!
We went to a newborn care class at the hospital yesterday 1.21.15. We thought it was helpful, worth going to and we did learn a few things. It was a good starting place for me who has never really spent an extended amount of time around babies. Obviously, a rigid babydoll is very different from the real thing but it was still good practice diapering {pretty sure I have never changed a diaper}, bathing, learning a couple breastfeeding positions, burping and practicing picking up, holding and giving the baby to my "support partner" {LOL} aka Baby Daddy Brian! We are also signed up for a breastfeeding class, tour of our hospital, childbirth education class and Infant & Child CPR course. Yeah, I need all the help I can get. As much as I am a procrastinator, I am also a planner! I need time to process all this new information. As always, I am thankful to have such a supportive husband. He's great because he's just like, tell me where I need to be and I'll be there. He knows how to handle his crazy wife ;)
I am so happy tomorrow is Friday! I have certainly been feeling more exhausted lately. I have an eye exam tomorrow and hopefully I will find a new pair of glasses. I've had the same frames since 2008! Definitely time for a change :)
