Hello Twenty-Nine

Hello Friends!
I wanted to share some birthday goodness with y'all! Clearly, I am having a wild birthday since I'm typing this on Saturday night. I'm okay with that though. I am currently in my pajamas, drinking a "Big Carl" glass of wine {Cougar Town reference, anyone?}, watching re-runs of The Big Bang Theory with my Hubby who is drinking a beer so I don't feel like a lush drinking alone on my birthday. Does that paint a picture of my night for you or what?

I have to say I am actually loving the chalkboard design I made for my birthday. I had been meaning to create something for weeks but I guess I was having designer's block. I could not think of what I wanted to draw. So this beauty came about this morning. That's right, I drew this on my birthday in about 20 minutes and this was a first draft, I didn't redraw any of it. Hey, what can I say...I don't have to be humble on my birthday. Totes bragging ;) I love it and I'm kinda sad since I'm going to be erasing it tomorrow for a fall chalkboard.

Last night, Hubby and I went to his mom's house for my birthday dinner. We celebrated Friday because my sister-in-law's dad and brother share my birthday so she and B's brother are going out of town to celebrate their birthdays today. It's really fun to spend my birthday with my in-laws. I grew up as an only child in a small family.  My family has grown considerably in the last 12 years with my {step} brother and {half} sister. Since December, I gained 3 brothers {in-law} and 2 sisters {in law} between our wedding and my brother getting married this month. Below are some pictures from last night. It's hard to see but the candles on the cake in the middle make out the number 29...ya know, because they couldn't fit 29 candles on the cake! We had ice cream cake, red velvet whoppie pies with cream cheese frosting filling and tiramisu. Didn't you hear? Calories don't count on your birthday!
Some of my awesome, thoughtful gifts!
Today, Brian and I had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Alaina's Bake Shoppe & Cafe. Look her up, the place is amazeballs! We brought home a Pumpkin Spice cupcake because we were stuffed from our sandwiches {I ALWAYS get the Fig-in Delicious and B ALWAYS gets The Stella}. Then we went shopping which makes for a great birthday! We bought new lamp shades from Target and went to Hallmark to buy cards for all the special events coming up in October. It made me laugh to be shopping for other people's birthday cards on my birthday. I received some gift cards and decided to redeem them immediately! Hubby also took me on a shopping spree at Gap. I really needed a pair of jeans and I am obsessed with Gap's Always Skinny jeans. They fit me perfectly and come in short which is perfect for this vertically challenged lady! Oh, and Gap was having a 30% off sale - just for my birthday, of course. You're welcome! B was such a trooper because he is not one to shop for hours. I, however, can shop in the front of the store for hours before moving into the rest of the store. I wish I was exaggerating and I'm sure Hubby is shaking his head yes as he read this. :) Hubby bought me MORE beautiful flowers! He gave me roses just last week. He's amazing and the flowers always make me smile. I don't think there has been a single holiday or event that has happened in the last 7+ years that B has not given me flowers for. It's a tradition that I hope he continues for the rest of our lives :)
I had to give you a better view of these beauties. I highly recommend you run right out and purchase these Michael Kors flats. I purchased a pair a few years ago in cream and still love them to this day. The leather is so soft and the shoes are very comfortable. I walk all over in these things. I needed wanted a darker pair and was planning on getting black ones. That was until I laid eyes on the color below. How amazing is that blue? It's perfect because I could still wear these with black clothing and these are so much more fun than black. I often think black is too harsh on me because I'm so fair-skinned. Plus, I had a gift card and Macy's was having a sale. Double-score!
I also wanted to share a better picture of my new clothes that I am SO excited about. I laughed as I laid everything out because clearly I have a thing for stripes. I swear, I did not even intend for everything to be striped. The shirt all the way to the left is charcoal & aqua/mint, then gray & white, then white & aqua/mint, then pink & white and lastly, navy & white. I am so excited to wear my new clothes. Now it just needs to start feeling like fall which is unlikely in sunny South Florida but a girl can dream. Luckily, now that I work in an office {read: air conditioning} rather than out in the community I can wear 3/4 sleeve shirts without melting.
So far, so great for my birthday weekend!
This birthday is extra fun since it is my first as a Mrs. I am so beyond thankful for my husband. Brian is  such an amazing husband for more reasons than I can tell you about right this moment. I could not ask for a better husband, best friend and partner in life. I woke up this morning, looked over at him and just smiled. He has brought so much happiness into my life and enriches every moment. We've had it rough lately but we've also made each other laugh so much as well that I'm sure it's one of the things getting us through this time. There is no one that makes me laugh harder, smile bigger and love more than Brian. I could go on all day but I'm sure y'all are gagging from all the mushiness.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend y'all!

xo
