Happy Monday y'all!
Darn, I thought if I said it excitedly that it would make Monday, well, less Monday-ish. As always, the weekend flew by and I did not accomplish nearly as much as I hoped to. We did a few loads of laundry and cleaned one toilet. Just keeping it real. I also worked on Saturday which sucked mainly because I try to make it a policy of not working on the weekends. I find that I need to "turn it off" those two days a week to recover from whatever the week was filled with. Like the fact that I had to call in an abuse report this week. Lovely. In case you are not familiar with what I do, I'm a individual and family therapist. I work mainly with kids and their families but also some adults. My passion and the reason I got into the mental health field was to work with couples, adults, even families but not so much the highly traumatized youth I work with now. However, I've been doing this job for a year now and I have learned a TON, built confidence and grown a thicker skin for sure. How did I get off topic?
Okay, so this weekend was my 10 year high school reunion. It's official, I'm feeling a little older after Friday night. For the most part, I don't feel 28. I don't feel like I've been out of high school for TEN YEARS. A whole entire decade has gone by. What, when?! But leaving Friday night, knowing I've just attended a reunion event, definitely made me feel a little older.
I have to say that I had a great time. It was way more fun than I thought it would be. Hey, just being honest! Me being me, I thought I'd hang out with my best friend, say hello to a few people and then leave after an hour. Well, we got to Rum Bar just before 8 and before I knew it someone was saying it was 10pm. We left around 10:40...that made me feel old too. {lol}
If there is anyone reading this, wondering if you should attend your high school reunion - I say go! I am so glad that I went. It was so much fun catching up with people that I literally have not spoken to since graduation or even before then. The funniest thing to me was the Facebook factor. Here I was, talking to people face to face for the first time in a decade but yet, I know what they did last weekend, what their children look like, who they are married to or where they work. Half the time I felt like a stalker, bringing up things from Facebook during the conversation. Social media really has changed things. Again, feeling old.
Speaking of old. My most recent Friday's Letters included some scanned photos from high school. Scanned, because they came from a deposable or regular film camera {I don't even know what the technical terms is lol}. Well, in the age of elementary school children with touch screen phones, I got my first digital camera at 21 years old as a gift from Lauren, my former stepmother. This fact made me feel old. I hardly have pictures from high school because I have no digital copies. It's amazing how quick you get used to something like a digital camera. Old, I tell you.
Like I said, Saturday I worked. Bella {chihuahua} & Lola {mutt lol} kept me company and rubbed it in that the life of a dog is so easy. I also lunched at my favorite restaurant, Food Shack with Lauren {former stepmom} while Husband was on a half-day fishing trip with coworkers. Saturday night, we watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I read the book a few months ago so I was really excited to see the movie. I thought they did a really good job with the movie. Even Husband said it wasn't that bad which is a rave review coming from him with that genre. He's more of a something must blow up for me to really like this movie kind of guy. {lol} I just started laughing and B asked me why so I read him that line. He tried to dispute it. He couldn't. I know him better than he knows himself!
Sunday are made for waffles in the Kozell house! I made the Husband our traditional Cinnamon Roll Waffles. I took Bella to the groomers to get her nails done. Lucky dog, I don't even get my nails done these days. I have to do my own! I met my mom for coffee and a catch up sesh. Then, Husband and I went over to my mother-in-law's for dinner with some of the fam. I should have taken some pictures. Is it too late to make a new year's resolution?
Have a great week, lovely readers!
