Five months from today I will marry my best friend {I am doing a happy dance as I write this}. We could not be more excited! I thought I would share our Save The Dates that we actually sent out last November. Since we chose a long engagement (10 days shy of 18 months to be exact) we wanted to give everyone a heads up on our date since our wedding is 9 days after Thanksgiving and 24 days before Christmas.
We chose our wedding date: 12.1.12 almost immediately. The night we got engaged (June 11, 2011) we walked back to our cabin (we were on a cruise..that story to come soon!) and started talking about the question we would be asked the most in the weeks after our engagement: "Have you picked a date?"
From our conversation that night we agreed that we did not want a summer wedding, we wanted to be engaged for at least a year and we wanted me to be done with school and find a job.
Florida is way too hot in the summer for a pale girl like myself who turns red as a tomato & over heats in 5 minutes. And Brian did not want to be stuck in a hot tux for hours in the heat. Next, I had always said to Brian that I would like to be engaged for at least a year. I did not want us to feel rushed and I wanted to actually enjoy being able to call Brian my fiancé for awhile. While I cannot wait to call him my husband, I only get to call him my fiancé for 18 months of our entire lives{cue the awww}. So now that brings us to at least June 2012...summer! Also, we agreed that we should wait until I was done with my master's. If you actually follow my little piece of the blogiverse then you know that my graduation was June 9, 2012.
That brings us to Monday, June 13th, 2011. We got off the cruise Monday morning and I drove right to school for 6 whole hours of class. How did anybody expect me to concentrate on school when I had a wedding to plan!! So funny enough, I remember the exact moment that I came across December 1, 2012. I was sitting in my Human Sexuality and Gender class. Can't wait to tell this story to the grandkids! So while my professor talked about women being objectified and sex selling things {again, I remember it clearly} I was flipping through my planner marking dates to show Brian. 12.1.12 was one of them. It was actually my first choice and Brian liked it too and so it was decided! The first of many choices and agreements that have to be made to plan a wedding. Oh, and the Save The Date is also a preview of our wedding colors! Yay! Until next time...
Can't believe the weekend is almost over!
