HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!
Wow, I have not posted a blog since July! I truly feel like 2014 is just flying by. To say we are busy is an understatement. Things kicked into overdrive when we officially closed on our very first home on August 22nd. It still feels surreal but perhaps that is because we haven't moved in yet!
We found out we were under contract on July 25th. It felt like such a relief yet there were suddenly a whole new set of worries. Would it pass inspection without anything major? Would it appraise for what we were paying or more? I am so happy to be through that process. Brian was so organized and handled most of the communication with our realtor and mortgage provider. The paperwork went really smoothly and our hands didn't even cramp up signing all the documents.
I thought I would share a sneak peek of the BEFORE pictures of our home. The people who lived there before us definitely had some interesting paint choices. They were NOT afraid of color but luckily it was mainly in the bedrooms. Funny enough, the bedrooms were not shown in the listing. I will have to share those in the future. I will probably do a before and after post because the after is spectacular so far. My amazing hubby has been working on the house every single day after work and every weekend for 4 weeks. He has only taken one day off which was to celebrate my 30th birthday. I knew he was a very hard worker but I am just utterly blown away by the dedication he has. I also miss him tremendously so I cannot wait to be in the same place at the same time for more than just sleeping. The results of all the hard work are so worth it though. It looks like a different house. You can get sneak peeks of the progress if you follow along with my Instagram.

We love the spacious patio.
The previous owners sure crammed a lot in that dining room. Oh, and that wall separating the dining room from the doorway to the kitchen no longer exists. It was demolished weekend 1. It made the room feel closed off. It has made a huge difference. It was something we knew we wanted to do when we first saw the place so I am really happy we were able to take it down before we move in.
A glimpse at some of the "lovely" color choices. I mean, blood red, really? It's considered a 4th bedroom because it has a closet but we consider it an office because you really couldn't fit more than a twin bed in that room. The sitting area there is what I call the fireplace room or Christmas tree room because WE HAVE A FIRE PLACE...in Florida. Clearly, a necessity. I will totally crank the air down to 60 degrees just to enjoy our wood burning fire place! That is also the door way to the mustard yellow master bedroom. We are completely redoing the flooring throughout the house. I am so happy to say buh-bye to the dated 12 inch tiles. Hello, laminate wood floors!
The Merlot wall in the family room off the kitchen is a distant memory! We also had to tame the USA room and the South American room. That's right, we named them...
I hope you enjoyed laughing looking at the before pictures of our home. If I have learned anything from the house shopping experience it is that people collect and decorate their homes with really weird stuff. If you look at the picture above, they have two table lamps sitting on a ledge that is probably 8 feet in the air. Why? Anyway! We are moving in this weekend! It is very exciting and I am exhausted in advance of the weekend.
More blogging soon!
